DAWN Ochea connected on a jumper with 1.9 seconds left to lift Adamson to a 62-61 win over Ateneo on Saturday in the UAAP Season 79 basketball tournament at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Cold off the bench, Adamson drew a play for Ochea and he did not disappoint, making his only two points of the game to propel the Falcons to their second win in three games.
Thirdy Ravena missed a potential game-winner for Ateneo on the next play.
Adamson completed a comeback after falling behind by 10 halfway through the fourth period.
“Dawn Ochea made me a coaching genius” said Adamson coach Franz Pumaren, lauding his wards for coming back after trailing, 60-50, in the fourth period.
“I should really appreciate my players right now. Probably in the old Adamson team, they could have easily folded up, but this time around, they showed their true character,” he added.
Robbie Manalang topscored for the Falcons with 15 points including 10 in the fourth quarter.
Manalang also hit back-to-back triples to tie the game at 60 before Chibueze Ikeh split his free throws with 1:46 left.
Anton Asistio had 12 points for the Blue Eagles, who missed Aaron Black due to a foot injury.
