DAVE Moralde is glad to witness the rise of the University of the Philippines program from a UAAP doormat to a Final Four contender this season.

Moralde was part of the San Beda champion team in 2012 when the Red Lions, then under Ronnie Magsanoc, started the season by playing with just six players, including himself, due to suspensions.

The peppery guard, however, experienced nothing but heartaches when he moved to UP - that is, until this season when the Maroons won five games and made a late run at a Final Four appearance.

“Coming from a winning team, before talunan, pero ngayon, makikita mo talaga ‘yung malaking improvement,” said Moralde.

Despite the ups and downs, Moralde said he will hold dear his experience with the Maroons.

“I’m so thankful and grateful for this opportunity. To be part of the UP Fighting Maroons, I’m so happy on what we have achieved. Salamat sa mga sumuporta,” said Moralde.

The UP veteran is also confident the holdovers can complete the UP resurgence.

“Masaya ako sa nangyari ngayon, especially for next year, sana makapunta sila sa Final Four,” said Moralde.
