ANTIPOLO - Dave Ildefonso said that the losses aren’t getting to him even after another solid outing went down the drain after National University’s 82-71 loss to University of the Philippines on Saturday at the Ynares Center.

Ildefonso scored 22 of his 24 points in the second half, sparking the Bulldogs’ comeback trail which fell short in the endgame.

Down by as many as 16, the Bulldogs got to within seven in the fourth quarter all thanks to the son of PBA great Danny Ildefonso. But just like in their first game – time ran out anew on the Bulldogs as they dropped to 3-8 for the tournament.

That doesn’t mean that he’s okay with the losses though as the end goal is to get the winning culture back for the Bulldogs.

Despite the losses, it has been an otherwise exceptional season individually for Ildefonso.

His head coach Jamike Jarin often raves about the future of the Bulldogs with him around, but the former Ateneo juniors star isn’t keen on putting too much pressure on himself.

No pressure, nothing on my mind, kasi, yun nga, rookie, wala naman expectations, coming out of high school,” said Ildefonso.

There’s a difference between putting too much pressure on himself to just being confident with his role with the team.

Ildefonso is there on the latter, and it was most evident in their loss against the Fighting Maroons.

JLC’s (John Lloyd Clemente) not scoring so I have to step up,” he added.

“Kailangan e. Kailangan magstep up. That’s my role sa team. I’m one of the leading scorers, nagsscore ako 15 a game, kung tanggalin mo yun, saan sila kukuha ng 15 points especially since JLC didn’t get his numbers tonight.”
