THE House of Representatives is now stepping in demanding an inquiry following the tragic drowning incident during the Ateneo team-building activity which led to the deaths of Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili in Dipaculao, Aurora.
Pinoy Workers Partylist Rep. Karl Josef Legazpi filed a resolution urging the House Committee on Youth and Sports Development to delve deeper into the existing policies, safety standards, and accountability mechanisms with regards to school-sponsored training camps.
"The incident highlights the need to examine whether existing laws, regulations, institutional policies, and industry practices provide sufficient safeguards for student-athletes participating in athletic camps, team-building exercises, outdoor activities, and other programs that may expose participants to elevated risks," the resolution read.

The inquiry aims to fulfill that in hopes of "strengthening the protection and welfare of student-athletes."
