    CHED puts pressure on UST, NU by issuing show-cause orders

    DEPARTMENT of Justice (DOJ) has already received the report from a panel created by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases with regard to the University of Santo Tomas' controversial Bicol bubble training.

    Commission on Higher Education (CHED) commissioner Prospero de Vera bared the IATF panel, which also included officials from the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), Department of Health (DOH), and Games and Amusements Board (GAB), has already forwarded their findings to the DOJ on Monday morning.

    "We have submitted it this morning and we'll await for the proper actions with respect to the violation of IATF rules," he said during the group's online press conference.


      A probe into the Growling Tigers men's basketball trainings in Capuy, Sorsogon, as well as the National University women's volleyball team in the school's Sampaloc and Calamba campuses, has been passed on to DOJ and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) to pursue administrative cases if necessary.

      "We'll be issuing show-cause orders to NU and UST explaining why sanctions shouldn't be imposed on its officers, teaching and non-teaching personnel for its failure to comply with the guidelines of CHED," said de Vera.
