IS RENZO Subido suiting up for University of Santo Tomas this season after all?

Just weeks after rookie coach Segundo 'Bong' Dela Cruz indicated that UST doesn’t plan to include him in the roster this season, Subido's name was seen in the Tigers’ provisional roster of 17 players submitted to the UAAP eligibility committee last week, sources told Spin.ph.

Santo Tomas, however, will still need to reduce its final roster to 16 players for Season 77.

Subido is eligible to play for the Tigers this season and not covered by the two-year residency period for high school graduates transferring to a different UAAP school after getting a release from De La Salle.

However, Dela Cruz told Spin.ph that he was not inclined to include the former high school star in his lineup since he came in too late to be considered for the lineup.

The point guard was initially seen practicing with the Tigers in the offseason during the time of former head coach Pido Jarencio, only to change his mind and declare that he was staying with the Green Archers.

When Subido made another U-turn and declared he was joining the Tigers, Dela Cruz said it was too late in the day to include him in his team.

However, Subido has been spotted playing in UST tune-up games lately after making quite an impression in the Nike All-Asia training camp in China where he was named to the Mythical Team.

Subido, who averaged a league-best 20.1 points per outing for the Junior Archers last season, is also a perfect fit for a Tigers team that lost point guard Jeric Fortuna after the 2012 season.
