CEBU CITY — Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu standout Joshua Sinclair is leaning towards joining reigning UAAP champion National University.
“I’m seriously considering NU. My parents really like NU,” the Filipino-Australian high school prospect who turned heads with his fearless play in the Fiba 3x3 World Tour Manila, told Spin.ph on Wednesday evening.
The 6-foot-4 forward is sitting out the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. juniors basketball tournament because of eligibility issues, but said NU head coach Eric Altamirano has personally talked to him during the NBTC tournament and once again, during the weekend, while he was in Manila.
“I’ve been to the school and I met the whole gang,” said Sinclair of the NU squad that already has two former Ateneo de Cebu aces in former Batang Gilas member Dave Wilson Yu and guard, Rendell Senining.
As for sister school Ateneo de Manila, Sinclair said that he talked to renowned sports patron Jack Huang on Wednesday night about the prospects of him joining the Blue Eagles.
“I don’t have an official invite yet but they said they’re interested.”
Sinclair helped lead the SHS-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles to the National Basketball Training Center National High School Championship title, and was named Most Outstanding Player and Best Defensive Player.
