Cabs Cabonilas stays home as he commits to FEU for college

FAR Eastern University gets to keep its prized possession with Cabs Cabonilas opting to stay in Morayta for college.

The reigning UAAP Season 88 boys basketball MVP confirmed his decision to remain with the Tamaraws for the seniors division on Tuesday, silencing chatter of his potential move elsewhere.

Cabonilas is one of the offseason's biggest catch for FEU as coach Sean Chambers fortifies his frontline with Cabonilas and teammate Marc Burgos from the high school division.

"Masaya po ako dito kasi nandito talaga sa FEU yung puso ko," said the 19-year-old.
Cabonilas, a versatile 6-foot-5 forward, averaged 15.8 points, 8.9 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.8 steals, and 1.5 blocks in his final year with the Baby Tamaraws.

But he saved his best in the championship, netting 24.0 points, 12.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.3 blocks, and 2.0 steals to lead FEU-Diliman to the crown where he was also adjudged as the Finals MVP.

He was also pivotal in FEU-Diliman winning the gold in the UAAP 3x3 competitions over the weekend.

With Cabs Cabonilas on board, FEU secured the commitment of its two high school stars after also getting Marc Burgos

With the Tamaraws, Cabonilas will also reunite with former juniors teammates in UAAP Season 88 MVP Janrey Pasaol, Kirby Mongcopa, and Jedric Daa as he hopes to be guided for his freshman year this UAAP Season 89.

Chambers also welcomed the news, saying, "The high school MVP choosing to stay home, represent his roots, and continue his journey with the Tamaraws says everything about what this program stands for."
