NATIONAL University walloped Adamson, 77-62, on Sunday for its first back-to-back victories of the season in the UAAP men’s basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Bulldogs, finally looking like the team tagged as tournament favorites following a preseason title last summer, improved their win-loss record to 4-2 after a big follow-up to Thursday’s huge 61-57 victory over erstwhile unbeaten Far Eastern University.

“We talked about follow through before the game and that was the word of the day,” NU coach Eric Altamirano said. “We wanted to follow through our win against FEU and treated this game as a very important game.”

Emmanuel Mbe had 20 points and 15 rebounds while Bobby Ray Parks added 12 points, 11 rebounds and five assists for the Bulldogs, who outscored the Falcons, 27-15, in the third period en route to a 66-44 lead entering the fourth.

The shoulder injury to Alex Nuyles in the first half didn’t help the Falcons as they trailed 39-29 at halftime.

“We started strong and we were able to sustain it unlike in our FEU game. I think the boys were very focused and we knew the strengths of Adamson so we prepared in what we were supposed to do,” said Altamirano.

    Adamson dropped to 1-3.

    The scores:

    NU 77 — Mbe 20, Parks 12, Villamor 9, Alolino 8, Rosario 7, De Guzman 7, Javillonar 5, Neypes 4, Labing-isa 3, Betayene 2, Singh 0, Rono 0.
