    Bright Akhuetie leads UAAP MVP race as Pasaol in pursuit

    BRIGHT Akhuetie of University of the Philippines leads the Most Valuable Player race at the conclusion of the first round of UAAP Season 81 men's basketball tournament.

    The Nigerian big man amassed 77.0 statistical points (SPs) after averaging 15.7 points, 15.7 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in his first year for the Fighting Maroons.

    UE super scorer Alvin Pasaol is in close pursuit at second with his 71.57 SPs after notching a league-best 23.7 points.

    Also in the top five are Ateneo slotman Angelo Kouame, who collected 68.42 SPs, La Salle center Justine Baltazar with 64.57 SPs, and UP playmaker Juan Gomez de Liano with 60.57 SPs.

    Rounding out the top 10 are Jerrick Ahanmisi of Adamson (57.71 SPs), CJ Cansino of UST (57.42 SPs), Papi Sarr of Adamson (55.85 SPs), Aljun Melecio of La Salle (55.28 SPs), and Sean Manganti of Adamson (54.0 SPs).
