FRIENDSHIP once again took a backseat on Saturday when Brent Paraiso's University of Santo Tomas met Ricci Rivero and the University of the Philippines in the UAAP Season 82.
It was the first time the former teammates crossed each other's paths in the UAAP since they left La Salle back in 2017.
Yet for the two, it just adds to their storied history which dates back to their grade school days.
"I've been playing with him since grade school, so basically alam ko na kung paano siya maglaro," said Paraiso after his side's 85-69 win.
"Na-match up lang kami today. Laban muna."
The Green Archer-turned Growling Tiger had the last laugh in this clash, not just with his side claiming the victory but also posting the better numbers with his six points on a 2-of-5 shooting from deep, to go with a rebound, an assist, a steal, and a block.

Rivero, meanwhile, had a forgettable second game for the Fighting Maroons with his four points on a horrid 1-of-10 clip, on top of his five boards, while also committing six turnovers.
Still, it was a joy for the two to share the court, although this time, they're on opposing sides.
"I’m happy that we got to play together again," said Rivero, still mindful of the adjustments he needs to do to while staying positive to further blend in with UP. "I just have to really step up for my team and try to help the team win."
Till the next time they meet again.
