ATENEO suffered its second successive loss in the 2018 William Jones Cup, dropping an 86-78 defeat to 3D Sports Global Sports-Canada on Tuesday after a brave rally fell short at Xinzhuang Gymnasium in New Taipei City.
Shaquille Keith had 18 points while Connor Wood had 16 points for Canada, which saw a 27-point, first-half lead cut down to six points twice in the endgame before sealing its fourth win in as many games.
Keith and Wood also combined for seven games.
Matt Nieto had 18 points while Thirdy Ravena added 12 points as the Blue Eagles dropped their second straight game after an opening win over Chinese Taipei's cadets side.
The Blue Eagles immediately fell behind, 35-14, after the first quarter as Wood and Logan Stutz scored eight points each during that opening stretch.
Ateneo trailed, 51-27, at the end of the first half but outscored the tall Canadians, 51-35, in the second half to cut the deficit to single digits in the endgame.
The Blue Eagles next face Japan on Wednesday in their fourth game in as many days.
