NATIONAL U may still be in the thick of the championship chase in the UAAP Season 88 men's basketball tournament, but that won't stop Steve Nash Enriquez and Reinhard Jumamoy from dishing out assists off the court.

The Cebuano guards have taken the time to extend helping hands to their kababayans in need in the aftermath of the calamities which ravaged their province.

"'Di naman natin dapat pabayaan yung mga nangangailangan, lalo na may means na rin tayo para tumulong," said Enriquez, who hails from Minglanilla and has taken the lead in this initiative.

Both Bulldogs playmakers shared that while they feel fortunate that their families were not affected by the recent earthquake and flooding, they can't help but feel for those who were - and that prompted them to take action.

"Nakakaawa din yung mga naapektuhan sa Cebu kaya ito na rin yung way namin para makatulong sa kanila," said Jumamoy, a native of Lapu-Lapu City.

Enriquez said that it was a no-brainer for them to do these relief operations, especially after seeing Cebuanos struggle because of the disasters.

This also prompted collective action with their NU peers also joining in this noble cause.

"Nakakatuwa rin kasi willing sila lahat tumulong," shared Jumamoy.

So far, they were able to send out three packages of clothes to Cebu for those in need, as well as raising funds through donation drives to help with the relief goods.

Among those recently put in auction are game-used uniforms of Harold Alarcon and his girlfriend Roma Mae Doromal. Both are good friends of Enriquez from their time in NU-Nazareth School, and continue to be so even as Alarcon now plays for the University of the Philippines and Doromal went to Ateneo before being drafted to Capital1 in the PVL.

These are being coursed through the Enriquez' family, who pinpoint communities who need help the most.

"Katabi lang namin yung Talisay eh, so sila mama na yung pumupunta para talaga doon sa mga pinakanangangailangan," shared the graduating blue-and-gold playmaker.

Bless your hearts, Nash and Rein.
