BEN Mbala is the runaway leader in the Most Valuable Player (MVP) race in UAAP Season 79.
Mbala topped the MVP statistical race after the first round after accumulating 95.2857 overall statistical points (SPs), according to the league’s official statistics provider Imperium Technology.
The closest pursuer of the La Salle big man is Papi Sarr, although the Adamson center lies a far second with an overall SPs of 71.4286.
Only the overall SPs is the basis for awards in the UAAP.
Mbala leads the league in scoring with an average of 20.7 points, and blocks with 2.1 per outing. He is also second in rebounding after the first round with an average of 16.3 a game.
Jeron Teng of La Salle is running third with 56.3333 SPs, followed by Raymar Jose of Far Eastern University with 54 SPs. Paul Desiderio of University of the Philippines is in fifth with an overall SPs of 53.8571 SPs.
Rookie Jerrick Ahanmisi is sixth in the MVP race with 51.8571 SPs, while Matt Salem of National University follows in seventh with 51.2857 SPs.
Alfred Aroga of National University (51.1429) and Prince Orizu of FEU (48.571) are in eighth and ninth while J-Jay Alejandro of NU and Thirdy Ravena of Ateneo are tied for 10th with 46.5714.
