LA Salle beat University of the East, 106-100, on Wednesday in a game that featured two of the biggest individual performances in UAAP history.
Ben Mbala had with a career-high 39 points to lead the Green Archers to their second straight game and improve to 5-1 in the Season 80 basketball tournament at the Araneta Coliseum.
Alvin Pasaol, meanwhile, exploded for 49 points for UE, the highest individual score in the league in 15 years, breaking the 43-point mark set by then-National University player Jeff Napa in 2002.
Pasaol fell short of 50 after he missed his second free throw with 55.6 seconds left. He was greeted with cheers by UE coaches and players after he was replaced with 3.1 seconds remaining.
Mbala continued his stellar play as he notched a new career-high for the third time this season.
He also grabbed 15 rebounds and two blocks for the Green Archers.
Abu Tratter had a career-high 24 points for the Green Archers, who led by as many as 25 points.
Despite Pasaol's explosion, the Red Warriors dropped to 0-6 going into their match-up against another winless squad, University of Santo Tomas, on Saturday.
