UNIVERSITY of the East hobbled to a horrendous 0-4 start, but Red Warriors gunner Bonbon Batiller remained optimistic his team will soon show the Final-Four worthy form in the UAAP Season 79 men’s basketball tournament.
"Parang sarili lang namin yung kalaban namin. Hindi pa lumalabas laro ng lahat," said Batiller after UE succumbed to University of the Philippines, 75-71, on Wednesday.
"Parang wala kaming kumpyansa sa sarili namin. Alam nila (coaches) na hindi yun yung laro namin. Wala kaming kumpyansa sa loob ng court," he added.
The Red Warriors, added the UE stalwart, are starving more than ever for their first win in the season after a heartbreaking loss to the Maroons.
"Sobrang down kami pero sabi nila coach, kailangan lang lumaban kami. Kapag hindi, madadala namin yun hanggang matapos season," he said.
"Dahil lagi kaming talo, mino-motivate namin sarili namin na kaya namin. Pwede pa kaming makapasok sa Final Four. Kaya pa namin,” added Batiller.
Batiller, though, called UE’s next match on Saturday against Ateneo a must-win to start their turnaround.
"Kailangan namin lumaban talaga simula next game, di na kami pwede matalo. Ipu-push pa namin mga sarili namin," he said.
