THE first meeting of archrivals Ateneo and La Salle in the UAAP Finals after eight years drew 16,712 fans inside the Mall of Asia Arena, who were treated to a classic as the Green Archers held off the Blue Eagles, 67-65, in Game 1 of the best-of-three Season 79 title series on Saturday.
In the sea of blue and green, some notable faces stood out for each side as fans of both schools came in full force. Even dignitaries without affiliation to any of the finalists were present, like new US Ambassador to the Philippines, Sung Y. Kim.
