Ateneo team manager denies Blue Eagles looking to sign Ricci Rivero

Feb 3, 2018
La Salle said Ricci Rivero and brother Prince, along with Brent Paraiso, have taken a leave from the team to fulfill their endorsement obligations.

ATENEO team manager Epok Quimpo denied the Blue Eagles are interested to recruit former La Salle player Ricci Rivero.

Quimpo wrote on his Facebook account, "There is no truth to this" to a report that Ateneo is trying to recruit Rivero after he was reportedly removed from the team.

Quimpo later sent a text message to Spin.ph saying the Blue Eagles are already preparing for the coming UAAP season, focusing on developing their current pool of players in college and in high school.

"There's no truth to the article. We have started our preparation/ training already focused on developing players both from Ateneo Team B and Ateneo HS," said Quimpo.

Sources said Ateneo and University of Santo Tomas are trying to recruit Rivero, who reportedly have been removed from the Archers squad along with his brother Prince and Brent Paraiso.

La Salle issued a statement on Friday night the Riveros and Paraiso have taken a leave from the team to fulfill their endorsement obligations.
