ATENEO star Kiefer Ravena leads a talented batch of players chosen as Smart ambassadors in the UAAP as the telecommunication company steps up its promotion in living a ‘Smart Life’ in the digital age.
Dubbed the ‘Smart Elite Team UAAP,’ Ravena is joined in the group by fellow Gilas Pilipinas cadet members Mac Belo of Far Eastern University and Kevin Ferrer of University of Santo Tomas.
Also with them are Gelo Alolino of National University, Prince Rivero of La Salle, Von Pessumal of Ateneo, Jett Manuel of University of the Philippines, Dawn Ochea of Adamson, and Paul Varilla of University of the East.
Through the formation of the team, the firm hopes to inspire people to pursue positive values of sports as well as the responsible use of the latest technology in the digital age through Smart.
“Out of the question ‘yung competitiveness nila but they also exemplified sportsmanship and other positive values on the court from high school to college,” said Smart official Epok Quimpo during the launch on Wednesday.
“We encourage young Filipinos to take inspiration from these athletes who have displayed outstanding basketball skills and fierce passion for the sport,” said Smart EVP and consumer business head Ariel Fermin.
Ravena said the digital age has allowed fans to get closer to their favorite players.
“With Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, nauupdate talaga namin ‘yung mga fans namin. They deserve all that information,” said last season’s UAAP Most Valuable Player.
