ALL for more, indeed.
Hosts Ateneo painted the Mall of Asia Arena in UAAP colors as student-athletes from all sports from eight member universities took center stage in the opening ceremonies on Sunday.
"It's not just basketball, it's not just volleyball. That's why we're all here," said Ateneo president Fr. Jett Villarin, SJ as athletes from different sports took part in the traditional parade of athletes.
Villarin also urged the athletes to put the community ahead of themselves as they continue their quest for greatness.
"We are first a community before we are competitors. Ipinagdiriwang natin ang isa't isa. We see our rival and we say thank you because you make me not just better athlete, but a better person," he said.
"We're always asked to do the better thing, the greater choice. Every victory, every defeat, will be more than ourselves."
National fencer Maxine Esteban led the oath of sportsmanship before a number of national athletes from UAAP schools.
The Itchyworms and Sponge Cola also performed this season's theme song together with members of the Ateneo de Manila College Glee Club.
Aside from the two bands, also performing a free concert for the athletes were Autotelic, December Avenue, and IV of Spades.
