ATENEO and De La Salle fans have been encouraged to wear white for the UAAP men’s basketball game between the two rivals teams on Sunday as part of a silent protest in the fight against ‘pork barrel.’
Messages through SMS and social networking sites have been circulating the past few days calling on Ateneo and La Salle supporters who will watch the game at the Smart Araneta Coliseum to wear white in protest over the controversial misusage of the priority development assistance fund (PDAF) or more commonly known as ‘pork barrel’ by several elected officials who have been hugging the headlines lately.
An official of one of the schools clarified to Spin.ph that wearing of white is only a “suggestion” and not necessary a directive from the two learning institutions.
In 2009, Ateneo and La Salle fans wore yellow during the two rival team's UAAP game following the death of former president Corazon Aquino.
