CLINT Doliguez is fast becoming one of the most sought-after big men out of high school.
No less than five-time UAAP men’s basketball champion Ateneo has joined the scrum for the services of the Hope Christian High School standout.
Aside from the Katipunan-based school, feelers have also been sent by La Salle, National University, Adamson, and University of the East to the big man out of Iloilo.
Doliguez has yet to make up his mind.
“Sa ngayon po, wala pa po akong desisyon,” the 18-year-old Doliguez to Spin.ph during the Lenten break.
The 6-foot-1 Doliguez averaged 9.3 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 1.56 blocks in his final year with Hope Christian High School during the 2011-2012 season of the Metro Manila Tiong Lian Basketball Association (MMTLBA).
But it was outside the MMTLBA where Doliguez had made quite an impression of late. The Ilongo cager powered Hope Christian to the Metro Manila Basketball League (MMBL) crown when he scored 46 points in the finals against NCAA titlist San Beda early this year.
During the Seaoil National Championship last month, Doliguez was named Most Outstanding Player of the tournament for his inside dominance while leading Hope Christian to a runner-up finish behind the Red Cubs.
While he has yet to pick a school to play for ni college, Doliguez said he is already preparing himself physically for the bruising games ahead.
“Sa ngayon, hindi pa ako ready kasi wala pa ako sa kundisyon. Kailangan ko rin magpalaki ng konti,” said Doliguez. “Kaya sa ngayon, individual training muna ako kasi wala pa akong team.”
