THE Ateneo Blue Babble Battalion used their halftime performance in the Blue Eagles match against University of the Philippines in UAAP Season 80 on Wednesday to show their stand against extrajudicial killings and the Congress vote to give P1,000 budget for the Commission on Human Rights.
Wearing black shirts, members of the group held up placards just before their performance ended, which read ‘STOP THE EJKS UPHOLD HUMAN RIGHTS.’
Immediately after their performance, they pulled out a P1,000 peso sign and tore it up, referencing to the recent decision of the House of Representatives to give the CHR just a thousand peso-budget.
It isn’t the first time Ateneo used the UAAP as a platform to be heard as they also spearheaded a protest last year when their players wore black in their game against La Salle to protest against extra judicial killings.
The move, though, drew mixed reactions from members of both schools who watched the game.
