JADEN Lazo picked the perfect time to wax hot.
The hot-shooting Fil-Am gunner went nuclear for Ateneo in the fourth quarter, as they remained undefeated in the UAAP Season 88 men's basketball tournament courtesy of a 77-58 romp over Adamson on Sunday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Lazo scored 13 of his 15 points in the payoff period, shooting 3-of-5 from rainbow country, as the Blue Eagles clamped down on the Soaring Falcons in the final 10 minutes of the game.
He sparked the Katipunan side's telling 17-1 stretch to flip the game from a close 51-48 encounter to start the fourth to a 68-49 lead with 3:23 on the clock.
"I think the second half, we hit in all cylinders. Our shooting percent improved and we shot at an extremely high percentage," said coach Tab Baldwin, highlighting Ateneo's 17-of-28 field goal shooting and 7-of-12 clip from deep in the second half.
Ateneo flaunts its depth
Divine Adili also recorded his best game in blue-and-white, top-scoring for his crew with 16 points and six boards, while Kymani Ladi recorded 14 points, five rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block.
This triumph sustained the Blue Eagles' impressive 3-0 start to this campaign, as they held Adamson to just 10 points in the fourth.
The Soaring Falcons' defeat also spoiled Matty Erolon's big night, as he went a near-perfect 7-of-8 clip from deep for his 23 points.
Cedrick Manzano was held to just six points, four assists, and two rebounds to see Adamson slide to 1-2.
