ALL set to leave Ateneo due to academic deficiencies, Arvin Tolentino has turned his sights to his high school alma mater, San Beda, and is looking to earn a spot in the Red Lions seniors squad, said a source.

Tolentino is one of a number of players, along with Hubert Cani, Clint Doliguez, John Apacible, and Kemark Carino, who are set to be cut from the Blue Eagles after failing to meet the school’s academic requirements.

A source confirmed that the former San Beda Red Cub is talking to some of the alumni about a possible homecoming. But he added that Tolentino must talk to team officials personally if he wants to return to San Beda.

The final decision, a team official said, will still be down to coach Mike Jarin.

Tolentino was a high-profile recruit of Ateneo after an impressive high school career at San Beda, but the 6-3 forward never really found his place in former coach Bo Perasol's rotation.

Meanwhile, CJ Perez and Jerie Pingoy are also reportedly having problems with their academics but will take summer classes to meet Ateneo’s QPI to be able to play for the UAAP Season 79 on September.
