ARVIN Tolentino’s career-high 23 points came as no surprise to coach Olsen Racela, who even lauded the Tamaraws forward for doing a little bit more than just score.
Tolentino had 23 points and six rebounds for the Tamaraws in their 90-83 win over National University on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
"Alam naman natin 'yung pino-provide ni Arvin offensively. It's those intangibles ang hinahanap ko sa kanya," said Racela.
"The more he plays defense, the more he gets rebounds, the more he boxes out, the more minutes he will get," said Racela.
"I think he is giving the effort. The effort is there. He just have to be consistent sa effort niya," said Racela.
Tolentino shot 7 for 17 from the field, while also converting three of his eight three-point attempts against the Bulldogs. He had 11 points in the second period and nailed a running shot that put the Tamaraws ahead, 88-81, with 1:08 left in the fourth.
The 6-foot-5 Tolentino credited the entire team for his performance against NU as their ball movement allowed him to get open shots.
"Good game for us. We shared the ball. We had open looks dahil sa pag-share ng bola," said Tolentino.
