ADAMSON silenced National University in the payoff period to take a 72-53 win and stop its four-game losing streak in the UAAP Season 82 men's basketball tournament Saturday at Mall of Asia Arena.
AP Manlapaz came up with a sizzling fourth quarter, scoring 10 of his 14 points as the Falcons ended their woes. Manlapaz also grabbed four rebounds.
Jerrick Ahanmisi shot 3-of-8 from deep to topscore for Adamson with 15 points and three boards, while Simon Camacho had 13 points, six rebounds and two assists.
Congolese big man Lenda Douanga had a double-double of 11 points and 15 boards, while adding three blocks, as Jerom Lastimosa had 10 points, nine assists, six rebounds and four steals.
"We really needed this win," said coach Franz Pumaren as Adamson improved to a 4-6 win-loss record. "Every game for us right now is important."
John Lloyd Clemente's three at the 1:22 mark of the third period put NU up, 47-44, but Adamson outscored it from that point on, 28-6 to end the slide.
Dave Ildefonso starred for NU with 15 points on 7-of-18 shooting from the field, to go with eight rebounds, while Issa Gaye had 14 points and 10 boards.
The cellar-dwelling Bulldogs suffered their eighth loss in 10 games.
