LUCK, clearly, wasn’t on Mason Amos’ side when he went down with an MCL injury more than a month ago.
And now that he’s back on his feet, helping La Salle stay alive in the UAAP Season 88 Final Four against top-seeded National U, it still isn’t luck carrying him through.
It’s something steadier.
Acceptance, resolve, and the choice to take whatever was left of his season and make it matter.

The 21-year-old did just that on Wednesday night at the Big Dome, turning into the spark that energized the Green Archers in their must-win match.
When the green-and-white was being threatened, Amos stepped in with a second half surge that helped seal their 87–77 win, finishing with eight points, including a big-time triple inside the last five minutes, an assist, a steal, and a block in 15 minutes of play.

Because for Amos, luck may run out.
But taking matters into his own hands? That’s where it starts again.
“It’s not over, we got more work to do, but I could be happy with this one,” he told SPIN.ph.
Amos missed seven games after injuring his knee in La Salle’s first round game against these very same Bulldogs.
Had last year’s finalists had Amos and Kean Baclaan in the second round, they could have been in a more secure position, even possibly with the playoff bonus instead of the twice-to-win disadvantage.
Green (Archers) light now
But they’re right here, right now.
Good thing then that Amos isn’t one to sit on what-ifs. If the table’s not going to turn, he’s the type to flip it over.
“No, I wouldn’t have it any other way,” he said. “I’d rather go through all that. Everything happens for a reason, and God has a reason why I went through all this.”

That, though, didn’t come easy. Of course, it didn't.
It took weeks of extra work and emotional turmoil. And yet, not once did he doubt his faith.
“There were a lot of sleepless nights, a lot of times emotions got the better of me, but I can say it’s worth it. As much as what I went through, I’m forever grateful because I could have not been playing right now — it could’ve been worse — but I’m here, and it made me more mature and grateful,” he said.
And that faith is what he'll keep holding on to, as they seek to live another day on Saturday.
