ALJUN Melecio is confident he can get his rhythm sooner than later after the La Salle point guard played for the first time since recovering from dengue fever.
The UAAP Season 79 Rookie of the Year awardee scored just three points in 10 minutes of action against University of the Philippines in his first game back in almost a month.
Melecio, who averaged 14 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.8 steals in four games before going down with dengue, said he is still trying to find his form as he only attended practice thrice prior to the 85-62 win over the Maroons.
"Hindi pa 100 percent. Dahan-dahan lang. Hindi naman agad-agad babalik 'yung kundisyon mo. Patient lang," said Melecio.
The 5-foot-7 Melecio admitted he felt winded late in the game against UP.
"Parang hanggang una lang, okay 'yung katawan mo. After ilang balik, nanghihina ka na. Iba talaga," said Melecio.
Melecio said he already tempered his expectations about his play prior to the game against the Maroons.
"Actually, makapasok lang ako, solve na. Kasi na-miss ko talaga 'yung paglalaro. Buti naman, nalagay sa court," said Melecio.
The former La Salle Zobel standout knows he will get there in no time.
"Tignan natin 'yung katawan. Nandiyan naman si coach Marlon (Celis, conditioning coach) na gina-guide ako sa conditioning," said Melecio.
