NATIONAL University center Alfred Aroga allayed fears that he aggravated an injury suffered in the preseason during Wednesday’s season debut against University of the East in the UAAP.
Aroga landed awkwardly after converting a lay-up that capped a fiery late-game run by the Bulldogs against the Red Warriors that clinched a 72-66 victory on Wednesday.
Aroga, however, pointed out the injury was not on his left quad that he sustained during the summer, and instead was on his ankle. Aroga sat most of the preseason due to a quad injury.
“It’s the ankle. I fell in my last lay-up. I wasn’t feeling any pain but since I fell badly, I just need to rest,” said Aroga, who finished with 18 points and 13 rebounds for the Bulldogs.
The foreign player said he is determined to play for NU in its next match against Ateneo on Sunday.
“I got injured again but its not an excuse. I need to get back on Sunday,” said Aroga.
