ONE of Far Eastern University's advantages coming into UAAP Season 81 is its depth as it boasts a treasure trove of talents ready to step up whenever their numbers are called.
And on Sunday, it was Alec Stockton as the sophomore winger gave the Tamaraws the much-needed boost in the first half to come away with the 68-61 victory over La Salle.
With all eyes on Arvin Tolentino, Stockton pumped seven of his nine points in the first half, on top of two rebounds as he injected energy to his veteran FEU side.
But coach Olsen Racela is the least surprised with the way the 6-foot-3 forward performed in the game.
"Yun naman ang role niya sa amin, to provide the energy coming off the bench," he said.
Though Racela knows what he can get from Stockton, what he's glad to note is his young gun's explosion on the offensive end.
"He’s one of the guys that we rely on defense also. It’s a good thing na yung spark niya came on the offensive end," he said.
For his part, Stockton was just happy to be one of the contributors in the Tamaraws' triumph in opening weekend to have a good start for the season.
"Everyone just stayed composed all throughout, from the starting five to the bench. We just went all-out and everyone contributed well," he said.
FEU guns for a 2-0 start when it faces UST on Wednesday.
