ALDIN Ayo reiterated that University of Santo Tomas making the Final Four this UAAP Season 81 will just be a bonus for him as his eyes are firmly set on the future.
"I'll be consistent with that. Hindi kami concerned masyado sa spot kung pang-ilan kami, kung papasok kami or hindi. This is a long program, pero we’re trying to squeeze everything kasi lahat ng ma-acheive namin dito, babaunin namin sa next seasons namin," he said.
Ayo insists the main goal is building the foundations for the squad.
"If mangyari, then bonus na lang yun. If not, we’ll just be grateful kung ano ang mga natutunan namin dito. But for sure, we’re going to compete and we’re going to do our best," he said.
If UST fails to progress to the Final Four, that would end Ayo's streak of making it to the finals in his first year at the helm in every team he's coached in, from Sorsogon, to Letran in the NCAA, and La Salle in the UAAP.
Ayo, though, is ready to throw that record away.
Not that he's giving up on UST this season. All he wants here is to see the fight from UST game-in and game-out.
"Of course, there's always the pressure to win every game. There’s a pressure kung makakapasok sa Final Four or hindi. Pero we’re just focusing on each game eh, yung laro na nasa harapan namin," he said. "Hindi na kami masyado nag-iisip doon sa mga darating. One game at a time. We make sure na nabibigay namin lahat."
