ALDIN Ayo admitted taking on the De La Salle job is a big risk for his coaching career, but assured he will do his best to help the Green Archers win a title in the UAAP.

Just months after leading the Knights to their first NCAA title in a decade, Ayo has agreed to replace of Juno Sauler and take on one of the hottest seats in the collegiate leagues

Ayo, however, said he doesn’t mind the pressure that comes with being the La Salle head coach, saying that he will bring his 'nothing-to-lose' attitude when he begins handling the Green Archers.

“Nasa personality ko naman ‘yun,” Ayo said. “Everytime na may ginagawa ako, I treat is as if there’s nothing to lose. Kung ano ‘yung sistema ko na gamble ng gamble, ganun ang sistema ko.”

“This is a big risk for my career. It’s a big gamble. Pero ganun ang personality ko na kung may gagawin ako, ayokong masyadong i-pressure ‘yung sarili ko. I’m just going to do my best and I always do na pinipiga ko para manalo.

“It’s a big gamble that I’m willing to take. Hindi ako natatakot matalo,” Ayo said.

Ayo refused to give his take on the La Salle team that will more or less have the same pieces from this season, except that Cameroonian center Ben Mbala is expected to be on board next year.

“Hindi ko pa masasabi hangga’t hindi ko nakikita sa ensayo namin,” Ayo said.

Ayo said he left the Knights with a heavy heart, more so since his former players were either sad or mad at him. He understands their feelings, though.

“Mabigat nung kinausap ko mga players. (During the victory party), sobrang bigat. ‘Yung mga players, may mga umiyak, may mga na-down. Siguro, some of them, nagalit. Pero parang tatay ko na rin sila. Kahit magalit sila sa akin, iintindihin ko sila,” said Ayo.
