TWO years since leaving La Salle, Aldin Ayo has yet to win a game against his old stomping grounds.
That was the case again on Saturday, when the Taft side dealt University of Santo Tomas a 92-77 taming to end their respective first round assignments in the UAAP Season 82.
And with that, Ayo has now gone 0-3 against the Green Archers since he took over the reins for the Growling Tigers.
But that's the least of the Sorsogon-born mentor's concerns.
"Hindi naman nagma-matter yun. Siguro nagkataon lang na we played bad and they played better. They really outplayed us," he said.

Encho Serrano was the biggest thorn on the side of UST, with the La Salle super sub throwing haymaker-after-haymaker to post a career-best 29 points, to go with five rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
Though Ayo no longer had the chance to coach Serrano back in his days in La Salle, he was perfectly knowledgeable of the skillset the Kapampangan had. After all, he was the one who recruited the former Adamson Baby Falcon to take his act to the Green Archers lair.
"Ako ang nag-recruit sa kanya. Magfi-fit sana siya sa sistema kung ako pa rin ang nagko-coach kaya namin siya kinuha, pero wala na ako nung naglaro siya. Magagaling naman yung mga coaches na dumaan sa La Salle eh, at alam nila kung paano gamitin yung bata," he said.
That's why Ayo couldn't help but applaud the superb performance Serrano had as UST failed to stop the sophomore guard's rampage.
"He played well. Nahirapan yung mga wingman namin na depensahan siya," he said.
That, to Ayo, should be a point worth looking at as the Growling Tigers take a short break before the second round action tips off next week.
At 4-3, UST is still in the top four, but is wary of the things it needs to correct -- miscues which are largely brought upon by the team's immaturity.
"It all boils down to decision making," he said. "Kasi may mga instances na aabot na lang sa apat yung lamang ng kalaban pero ang problema, di kami maka-stop sa depensa. Yung sa opensa naman, di namin alam kung sino ang titira at kung sino ang papasa. Yun ang kailangan namin trabahuin pagdating ng second round."
