AIR21 big boss Bert Lina said he hopes Manny V. Pangilinan will continue supporting Philippine sports despite the controversy that marred last week's tune-up games between Gilas Pilipinas and a selection of NBA players.
Lina expressed his full support to Pangilinan after the sudden cancellation of the `Last HOME Stand’ charity game that was supposed to pit an Paul George and Co. against Gilas angered many basketball fans.
“We at Air21 are giving our utmost support to our friend Manny V. Pangilinan for the incident in the ‘Last Home Stand’ NBA project,” Lina said in a statement.
The Air21 chief said the disappointing end to the scheduled two-day event should not stop MVP from supporting local sports.
“MVP will always have the best intentions for Philippine sports and this fiasco should not stop him from pursuing greater projects in the future,” Lina added.
The ambitious project ended on a sour note after organizers failed to get clearance from the NBA for its players to participate in the event serving as a send-off for Gilas before its campaign in the Fiba-World Cup in Spain.
