National University star Afril Bernardino wins MVP title in UAAP 78 women's basketball

AFRIL Bernardino of National University won the UAAP Season 78 women’s basketball Most Valuable Player award.

Bernardino, who played for Perlas Pilipinas this year, amassed 70.6154 total statistical points (SPs) to win the MVP crown in runaway fashion, according to a statistical report by Imperium Technology.

Bernardino piled enough points to win even though she was not fielded by coach Patrick Aquino in NU's final game of the elimination round against La Salle recently.

Danica Jose of Ateneo was a far second with 62.5714 total SPs, while Chery Ano-os of University of the East is in third with 60.9286 SPs.

NU won all of its 14 games in the elimination round to gain an outright berth in the finals. The Lady Bulldogs will also hold a thrice-to-beat advantage in the championship series.

She averaged 14.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.2 steals, and 2.1 blocks for the Lady Bulldogs this year.
