    Semifinal race in women's basketball heats up as Ateneo, Far Eastern U force logjam at fourth spot

    ATENEO routed University of the East, 70-56, while Far Eastern University nipped University of the Philippines, 59-54, on Wednesday to forge a four-way tie for fourth place in the UAAP Season 77 women's basketball at the Mall of Asia Arena.

    Ateneo and FEU joined idle Adamson and University of Santo Tomas in No. 4 at 5-5. 

    National University is unbeaten in 10 matches and has already bagged the first semifinal berth, while defending champion La Salle is running second with an 8-2 slate.

    Claire Castro had a double-double outing of 12 points and 14 rebounds, while April Siat contributed 10 markers for the Lady Tamaraws.

    Danica Jose played her usual game for the Lady Eagles with 10 points and 15 boards while Sara Bo-ot, Claire Aseron and Francesca Tantoco also chipped in 10 markers.

    The Lady Warriors and the Lady Maroons dropped to 2-8 and 0-10 cards respectively.
