ADAMSON made it clear it has no intention of calling for a rematch after a loss to La Salle in a Final Four game in UAAP Season 80, saying it filed a protest for the 'best interest of the league.'

Fr. Aldrin Suan, Adamson's representative to the UAAP board, said he is satisfied with the swift action of Commissioner Rebo Saguisag to suspend the three referees that called the match marred by a number of questionable calls.

"Actually, hindi naman siya immediate na inisip namin," said Suan in an interview with SPIN.ph, referring to a rematch. "Ang aming rason is to correct 'yung situation and look at the overall picture. Wala sa amin 'yung rematch."

Suan said the school decided to write a protest letter because it didn't want to let the incident pass without the league adressing the issue.

"Kasi kung hahayaan namin ito, it will happen in the future. Kawawa naman 'yung mga bata. At the same time, amateur league ito. Masyadong nako-corrupt ng kung ano man," said Suan without elaborating.

Suan said filing a protest was not an easy decision for the school.

"Ang amin lang, it's a pain for us pero iniisip namin 'yung welfare ng buong league. We have a responsibility to the fans, sa mga alumni, and in general, sa fans ng basketball," said Suan.

Suan also commended the decision of Saguisag to suspend the three referees who called the game. He said Saguisag also suspended the referees who officiated Adamson's second round match against La Salle.

"For your information, second round namin against La Salle, may letter din ako doon. Sinuspend din niya 'yung referee nung second round. Hindi na ito bago sa amin. Second round, may bad decision din ang referee, sinuspend din ni Rebo. What happened last Saturday is not isolated.

"Nakita mo naman talaga na nandoon 'yung desire ni Rebo na baguhin ang sistema. Ako personally, Rebo is fair, very objective sa mga decision-making niya, and very professional. Siguro 'yung pangyayaring ito is beyond the scope of our responsibilities, and other forces beyond our control. Ire-recommend ko siya for a long time as commissioner.

"Sad lang na what is happening is beyond his control. Commendable 'yung ginawa niya. Bago 'yung letter mismo, gumawa siya ng paraan," said Suan.
