ADAMSON clinched the second Final Four berth in the UAAP Season 81 after dropping University of Santo Tomas, 96-83, on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

It will be the third semis appearance for the Falcons under five-time UAAP champion coach Franz Pumaren.

Jerrick Ahanmisi and Jerom Lastimosa combined for 20 points in the third period as the Falcons took control of the game.

Down by one after the first two quarters, the Falcons opened the second half with a 15-0 run.

The Tigers tried to stage a comeback late but ultimately fell short with Sean Manganti, Simon Camacho and Papi Sarr hitting the timely baskets after the UST frontline of Germy Mahinay and Enrique Caunan fouled out.

“Of course we’re happy reaching the final four. Of course reaching the Final Four is an achievement, but we’ve been doing that the past few years, hopefully we can improve our finish for this year,” said Pumaren.

“We were so tight in the first half. We wanted to dispose UST right away but you know UST is a very tough team,” he added.

Manganti led the way with 22 points, seven rebounds and four assists as Camacho had a career high 15 points.

Renzo Subido led the way for the Tigers with 21 points and five assists as Marvin Lee added 18 for the Growling Tigers.

CJ Cansino added 17 points and 12 rebounds and had an injury scare as he landed on awkwardly on his left ankle with 4:16 left in the game.

The rookie returned to action with less than two minutes remaining in the game.

The Tigers’ Final Four aspirations are now in peril as they fell to 5-7, a full game behind the fourth and fifth running University of the Philippines and Far Eastern University with two games to spare.
