CAMEROONIAN center Ingrid Sewa has been scratched from the Adamson Falcons men’s basketball lineup over what officials said were repeated violations of team rules.
Falcons team manager Gilbert Cruz said Sewa was no longer part of the team’s pool of players since earlier this month as he detailed a list of infractions the Falcons slotman had committed.
These included seeing action in a ‘ligang labas’ in Marikina and playing in a basketball game during the birthday of Filipino boxing superstar and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao, he added.
Cruz said the team had consulted the UAAP board regarding Sewa’s situation, although the Falcons felt they have had enough of Sewa’s rules infractions.
Another source, however, said Sewa had left the team and returned to his country even before the team made the decision to drop him from the roster.
“It reached a point that we decided to sit him out,” said Cruz. “Medyo reluctant siya sa sistema ngayon. Hindi na namin nagustuhan kasi may mga team rules na kailangang sundin.”
Adamson made changes to the coaching staff after the Falcons wound up with a 4-10 win-loss card in Season 76. The university tapped former King Falcon and PBA Most Valuable Player Kenneth Duremdes as coach.
Former coach Leo Austria, whose contract was not renewed after several quarters in the school community expressed dissatisfaction with his performance in Season 76, was the one who recruited Sewa.
The Cameroonian big man averaged 9.4 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks in his first and only season with the Falcons last year.
