ANOTHER heartbreaker, another loss for De La Salle.
Yet, coach Gee Abanilla just wants to stay with the positives.
The cool Green Archers mentor remains upbeat despite his team losing to the University of Santo Tomas Tigers in an epic of a game, 84-82, that needed two extra periods to be decided.
The Archers could have won the tightly-fought match outright in regulation had LA Revilla’s shot wasn’t nullified as game officials ruled the basket came after the buzzer sounded.
“I just want to stay positive,” said a flabbergasted Abanilla after emerging from the forlorn La Salle dugout. “Lumaban at andun 'yung character. The breaks didn’t come our way.”
La Salle fell to its third straight loss and dropped to 2-3 (win-loss) overall. The Archers suffered a two-point loss to Far Eastern University, and then a 10-point defeat at the hands of archrival Ateneo.
“Our record doesn’t show how we play. We nearly won against FEU. Ateneo, for awhile, andoon kami. Pero it doesn’t show how we play,” Abanilla repeatedly stressed.
Poor free throw shooting obviously did the Archers in, as they shot just 16-of-30 from the foul line.
“Usually, we make our free throws. Lagi nga naming pina-practice mag-free throw,” said a dumbfounded Abanilla.
The Archers will face Adamson in their next game on Wednesday.
