MIKE Tolomia couldn’t help but sigh after learning that he committed 10 turnovers on Wednesday against University of Santo Tomas.
“Grabe,” said Tolomia.
Aside from the 10 turnovers, Tolomia struggled with only eight points in Far Eastern University's 71-72 loss to the Growling Tigers, 72-71. He did have four rebounds and five assists in the game.
Tolomia, who committed two costly turnovers in the endgame, said he felt the team wasn’t prepared for the game against UST, which translated to their poor play on Wednesday.
“Siguro depensa nila, sobrang aggressive din. ‘Yung iba kong teammates, hindi rin sila ready 'pag nabibigyan ko ng bola sa kanila, natataon na nalalakasan ‘yung pasa o hindi nasasalo.”
“Normal lang naman ‘yun. Breaks of the game,” said Tolomia.
FEU coach Nash Racela refused to point to Tolomia’s turnover-tally as the single biggest factor for the defeat.
“Not really specific to Mike but as a team, we committed 21 turnovers. That was a big factor. Percentage-wise, we shot around 47 precent which was nice. Ang problema, we turned the ball over and a lot of the turnovers, converted to layups agad,” said Racela.
“Hindi puwedeng ilang tao lang ang ready, kahit kami. Dapat magising kami sa talo na ‘to. Coming into this game, nag-relax kami ng konti. Hindi kami ready,” said Tolomia.
