ADAMSON prevailed over De La Salle-Zobel, 78-51, to boost its bid for a twice-to-beat advantage in the Final Four in the UAAP Season 79 juniors basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Centre on Tuesday.

Gerry Austin Abadiano finished with 18 points for the Baby Falcons, who improved their record to 11-1 while further strengthening their bid for the top spot in the Final Four.

Abadiano already had 15 points in the first half after he spearheaded Adamson’s attack that led to a 47-20 halftime lead.

Jason Celis finished with 12 points, while Evan Agbong and Encho Serrano added 11 points each for the Baby Falcons.

Meanwhile, Crispin Cansino had 20 points to lift University of Santo Tomas in shocking Far Eastern University-Diliman, 54-52.

The Tiger Cubs won for only the fourth time in 11 matches in a surprise win over the Baby Tamaraws, who have beaten top two teams Adamson and National University in the second round.

Cansino’s effort was enough for UST to pull off the win and stay in contention for the Final Four despite being in fifth place.

The Baby Tamaraws slid to third place in the team standings with an 8-3 record.

In other matches, National University thumped hapless University of the East, 107-56, to get back on the winning track after losing to FEU last Saturday.

John Lloyd Clemente led seven NU scorers in double figures with 15 points, while Rhayyan Amsali had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Bullpups, who stayed in second with a 9-2 card.

SJ Belangel had 32 points, while Dave Ildefonso added 20 points as Ateneo defeated University of the Philippines, 103-77, to pick up its sixth win in 11 games.
