THE UAAP has forfeited one win of the National University juniors basketball team this season for fielding an ineligible player.
Commissioner Rebo Saguisag issued a memo stating the Bullpups have been sanctioned with a forfeiture of their win over University of the East last November 11 after one of their players failed to satisfy the eligibility requirements of the league.
Saguisag didn’t mention the name of the player in the memo, but multiple reports said Jayson Puray was declared ineligible in Season 80. He only played one game this season.
With the league’s decision, NU dropped into a tie for second place with University of Santo Tomas pn 5-2 win-loss slates while UE was handed its first win after going winless in the first round.
The decision came as the second round hostilities of the juniors basketball tournament resumes on Saturday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
