NATIONAL University defeated De La Salle-Zobel, 85-67, on Wednesday in the UAAP Season 80 juniors basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
Terrence Fortea contributed 20 points and hit five of his nine three-point attempts for the Bullpups, who stayed in second place with a 7-2 card.
NU also gained a two-game lead over University of Santo Tomas, which lost to University of the Philippines Integrated School early in the day to fall to a tie for third place with Far Eastern University.
Miguel Pangilinan chipped in 11 points, while Rhayyan Amsali wound up with 10 points and nine rebounds for NU, which led by as many as 21 points in the contest.
Rogil Carlos had 15 points for the Junior Archers, who slid to 3-6.
