NATIONAL University spoiled a monster effort by Jalen Green as the Bullpups defeated FilAm Sports USA, 98-92, on Wednesday in the NBTC National Finals at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Terrence Fortea had 24 points, seven rebounds, and four assists while Rhayyan Amsali had 17 points and 12 rebounds for the Bullpups. The two also combined to bail out NU with clutch hits in the endgame.
That enabled the Bullpups to endure a big game from Green, the 16-year-old Fil-American guard who had a tournament-high 51 points to go with 12 rebounds for FilAm Sports.
NU will now face either Ateneo or Chiang Kai Shek College in the semifinals.
The Bullpups were held to an 84-84 deadlock in the fourth quarter before Amsali hit five straight points and Fortea a triple to open a 92-84 lead with 2:37 to go.
Kihei Clark had 17 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists for FilAm Sports in the defeat.
