    Unbeaten NU Bullpups, FEU Baby Tams keep win streaks going

    NATIONAL University-Nazareth School remained unblemished while Far Eastern University-Diliman retained its hot streak after beating separate foes Wednesday in the UAAP Season 82 boys' basketball tournament at Paco Arena.

    The Bullpups went up to 5-0 after dealing University of the East a 42-point beating, 91-49, while the Baby Tamaraws hacked out an 80-73 victory against University of Santo Tomas.

    "Yun ang objective namin lagi defensively kasi ang mindset namin kasi, yung defense namin yung offense namin," said NU coach Goldwin Monteverde.

    The Bullpups dominated right from the opening tip, outscoring the Junior Warriors, 32-16, in the first frame.

    NU utilized all of its players, each scoring at least a point, led by Kevin Quiambao's 15 points and 15 rebounds.

    Jericho Montecalvo posted 14 points and 11 rebounds as UE dropped to 1-4.

    "Hindi ako satisfied sa nilalaro namin kasi nagiging consistent kami sa pagiging inconsistent. Maglalaro sila nang tama tapos biglang magrerelax," FEU coach Allan Albano said.

    The Baby Tamaraws held the Tiger Cubs scoreless in the last 2:06 of the fourth period to extend their winning streak to four games and improve to 4-1.

    Penny Estacio led FEU with 21 points, five assists and five steals, Jorick Bautista punched in 19 markers built on four triples, while Patrick Sleat added 15 points off the bench.

    Jacob Cortez paced UST anew with 23 points while Jan Villarez had 14 markers and 15 boards as the Tiger Cubs slid to 2-3.

    Meanwhile, Adamson University routed De La Salle-Zobel, 89-57.

    Marcus Nitura registered 21 points while Ruzzell Dominguez, Didat Hanapi and Nicole Quinal each have 10 as the Baby Falcons moved to 3-2.

    Kean Baclaan tallied nine points on 3-of-13 shooting as DLSZ slipped to 2-3.

    In the other match, Ateneo High School got back on the winning column after pouncing University of the Philippines Integrated School, 99-70.

    Lebron Lopez unloaded 20 points and three blocks, Josh Lazaro had 17 markers and 13 rebounds as the Blue Eaglets rose to 3-2. Jazy De Ayre was efficient off the bench with 16 points on 6-of-8 clip along with nine boards.

    The Junior Maroons stayed winless in five games despite Ray Torres' 21-point 15-rebound double-double.
