JUAN Gomez de Liaño of University of the Philippines Integrated School has won the UAAP Season 79 juniors basketball MVP award.
According to a press release issued by the league, de Liaño will formally receive the trophy before Friday’s Game Two of the finals between Far Eastern University and National University at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
Gomez de Liaño was the leading scorer of Season 79, averaging 19.1 points per outing for the Junior Maroons. He was also second in rebounding with 10.3 a game while adding 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals.
Gomez de Liaño, younger brother of UP seniors team member Javi, helped UPIS secure five wins this season, an improvement from the team’s 3-11 record in Season 78.
