JAMIKE Jarin made his first public appearance in a UAAP event as National University coach when he showed up for the game the Bullpups won against the Ateneo Blue Eaglets in the Season 79 juniors basketball tournament.
However, Jarin insisted he was there not to scout or find new recruits but to merely show his support to the Bullpups in the high school division where second-round hostilities began over the weekend at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
“I just wanted to support the Bullpups,” said Jarin.
Jarin recently took over the seniors basketball program of NU from Eric Altamirano after guiding San Beda to the NCAA Season 92 title with a sweep of Arellano in the best-of-three finals series.
Incidentally, Jarin will be supported in the team by Letran coach Jeff Napa, who guided the Bullpups to three UAAP crowns before relinquishing the role after accepting the Knights job.
No stranger to putting up a winning program in high school after his stint with Ateneo, Jarin lauded the efforts of Napa and the coaching staff for developing a strong juniors program that will benefit the Bulldogs in the long run.
“A dominant program that is being led by Jeff Napa and his staff. The future looks bright for the NU basketball program,” said Jarin.
