Irus Chua commits to De la Salle-Zobel
One of the most sought-after young players as of late, the 16-year-old Chua will join the Junior Archers after training in the NBA Academy Asia Development in Singapore last May.
Chua was recently named to the Final 12 of Gilas Youth for the Seaba qualifiers for the Fiba Under-16 Asian Championship to be held in Surabaya, Indonesia from July 17 to 19.
Chua’s credentials include scoring 121 points in the Milcu youth league earlier this year, and capturing the MVP for Microsmith Elite in the NBL Youth 16-under tournament.
In the NBL Youth, Chua was also named as the MVP of the All-Star Game with players in the 16-under division.
Chua, who also played for Brent International School before committing to De La Salle-Zobel, also averaged 35.5 points including 6.3 three-pointers a game during the Chachago Invitational Basketball League, playing against a much-older 19-under age group division tournament.
But Chua created more buzz during his stint in the NBA Academy Asia Development where his outside shooting was in full display in the camp that involved 30 players from 14 countries.
